If you have the part, you’re made for it

Sometimes life hands you an opportunity—a job, a relationship, a project—that feels bigger than you can handle. I’ve often felt like running in the opposite direction from what’s in front of me. But whatever my fears or insecurities, I’ve been met by unexpected windfalls, and when things have capsized, I just had to look around to find the support and resources to deal with it. If you have the part, you can handle it. I’m not talking about situations that involve abuse or harm to others or yourself, of course, but opportunities that may have us wondering about our worth or where we think our strengths lie.

We all need to take a walk outside our comfort zone now and then. So if your stomach feels like it’s dropping to the floor because you are excited about what you have, keep encouraging yourself and keep your focus on what you want. If there’s also some fear about what you might lose, get some quiet time to reflect on it objectively and talk to someone you trust to explore your options. Stay open to new ways of approaching situations. Things don’t have to look like how you pictured them to actually be working out. This could be your big break, or maybe spark a new connection or ideas for the next step. Say yes and don’t give up.
